Well, no other game except Battlefield 3 anyway.Įven on the PC at first, second, and often third glance Battlefield 4 looks almost identical to its predecessor. Online multiplayer is what Battlefield 4 is all about and there’s still no other game that can match its huge maps, dozens of different vehicles, and convincing veneer of realism. It would’ve been nice if it worked as a training tool for the multiplayer but since DICE don’t seem interested in putting it to that use it’s best to think of it more as an optional extra. That’s one of the core problems with any story-based content in Battlefield that and the still appalling artificial intelligence, which sees allies wander around like distracted housewives at a shopping centre and bad guys that seem more desperate than you to have a bullet hole put between their eyes.īut that the single-player is so forgettable doesn’t really matter. It is certainly less on-the-rails than Battlefield 3, but having any kind of restriction on where you can drive or fly vehicles runs completely counter to the spirit of Battlefield.
